The Joint youth Sabbath – Kampala Metropolitan Zone (10th May 25)

The much-anticipated Joint Youth Sabbath for the Kampala Metropolitan Zone, which took place at Mt olives SDA church, with participants from Bunga Central Church, Emmaus SDA church, and East Kampala, took place yesterday, drawing in vibrant youth participation, uplifting music, and a powerful message from the Word of God. The event was hosted under the coordination of the Mt. Olives Youth Department, bringing together youth from various churches to worship in unity.

Pastor Joseph Namugera, the speaker of the day, delivered a stirring and reflective sermon that challenged attendees to re-examine their spiritual walk and attitudes. One attendee we spoke to, Kyomubike Aggie, shared that her highlight of the Sabbath came from a powerful moment in the sermon addressing hypocrisy within the church. The one Aggie pointed out how some Seventh-day Adventists are quick to condemn individuals who consume alcohol, yet many overlook their own use of tea leaves—a practice also discouraged under the Church’s health principles.

Aggie noted that this contrast highlighted a deeper issue of selective judgment and lack of consistency in upholding the standards the Church teaches. For her, this was not just a moment of conviction, but a call for the church to reflect more deeply on grace, self-awareness, and living out its values with humility.

FELLOWSHIP AND SERVICE

Another attendee, Joseph Bate, served on the food team and described his Sabbath experience as deeply fulfilling. He proudly shared that all food service stations were well-stocked and ensured every guest was well-fed—a true demonstration of Christian hospitality.

In addition to serving, Joseph mentioned a personal highlight: meeting a new girl named Becky, which added a joyful and memorable social element to his day. His experience reflected the holistic spirit of the Sabbath—spiritual nourishment, fellowship, and community engagement.

MUSIC MINISTRY

The musical presentations throughout the day were of high quality, featuring dynamic praise teams, choir performances, and heartfelt solos that uplifted the congregation. The visiting choirs were Heavenly Gates choir, Cenacle ministries East Kampala Ambassadors and a solo singer named Prossy, Many attendees noted that the music contributed significantly to the atmosphere of worship. Indeed, glory be to God in the highest for the talents and dedication of those who led in music ministry.

CHALLENGES AND RECOMMENDATIONS

While the day was largely a success, some challenges were noted. Joseph Bate observed that several invited churches did not attend as expected. This, he explained, was due to scheduling conflicts, particularly with other churches holding their Ambassador Sabbath celebrations on the same day.

Joseph recommended that in the future, Mt. Olives Church and the organizing committee consider selecting a date that does not coincide with other major youth events. Better coordination would ensure broader participation and strengthen the spirit of unity among the central churches.

CONCLUSION

In summary, the Joint Youth Sabbath was a spiritually enriching and socially vibrant event. From Pastor Namugera’s challenging sermon to the vibrant worship, heartfelt service, and meaningful fellowship, we wrapped up the Afternoon with a Panel discussion tackling Youth Ministry in Church. Then, finally, the day was crowned by Pastor Musonero Jason Junior with an uplifting sermon. The day left a deep impression on all who attended. Special thanks go to God the Father and the organizing committee for the dedication and effort in making the day a success.

May all the glory be to God.
